Build both your figure drawing skills and your confidence in this fun full-day workshop. Working with a live clothed model, from an artist’s studio, you’ll learn how to loosen up your figure drawing using gestural and dynamic techniques.

Beginning with warm up exercises and fast paced sketches, you’ll learn how to capture the immediacy of the form and produce powerful figurative drawings. Moving onto longer poses, you’ll discover the power of colour and composition, working with bold shapes and line, using cropping and framing techniques. Lesley will offer lots of tuition and demonstrations using a range of materials and different drawing techniques, encouraging you to be expressive and intuitive in your approach.

Suitable for all levels and abilities. So if you always liked drawing at school but were never encouraged or have lost your confidence, then come along and enjoy drawing again. Or perhaps you have some drawing experience, but want to free up your technique, then this is the workshop for you! This is also an excellent follow-on for those who’ve attended Lesley’s Portrait or Full Figure Drawing workshops.

All materials and refreshments are provided. This is a full day workshop with 2.5 hours tuition, either side of a one hour lunch break when you can explore York’s city centre.
